Confirming voltage and frequency is only the first step when planning the power system for a double girder overhead crane. The actual power availability at the installation site must also match the crane’s operating requirements.

Double girder overhead cranes may use multiple motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), hoisting mechanisms, and traveling systems. During heavy starting or simultaneous operation, these systems can create significant starting current and power demand. If the site power supply is insufficient, the crane may experience voltage drops, unstable operation, or difficulties during commissioning.

For this reason, buyers should provide information about voltage, frequency, phase, available power capacity, and site electrical conditions before the final configuration is confirmed. Engineers can then match motors, drives, electrical panels, and protection systems to the actual power conditions.
